He Did Not Wait

Thanks Goodness,

He Did Not Wait,

In September.

He Did Not Wait

In that third grade library

When he told you, his teacher, that he

Found a book about a King,

he had never known.

— — — — — —

He Did Not Wait

When you said,

“Put the book down, we do not read,

About this King who dreamed,

Until February.”

— — — — — —

He Did Not Wait

No, that little Black boy was too stubborn to wait.

He went home, and he told his mom

About the King who dreamed.

— — — — — —

They Did Not Wait, no they

Marched down to that library, and they

Brought that book home,

And read it together,

Not in February, but

In September.

Thank Goodness,

I Did Not Wait.
